The City Council runs a traffic plan for the beggining of the school year

The activities carried out in the surroundings of schools and surveillance of Local Police will reinforce road safety and mobility.

 

The City Council of Granada has prepared a traffic plan for the beguinning of the school year on 10 september. These specifically activities, in the surroundings of schools, and local police´s surveillance reinforce safety and road mobility in the school area. A hope that requires the cooperation and support of everybody.

The council of Citizens Protection and Mobility, María Francés; the superintendent of Local Police, José Manuel Jiménez Avilés, and the traffic intendant, Manuel Donaire, have been appealed to safety and fluidity of circulation on the presentation of the school campaign .

Between 70 and 80 agents will deal with traffic neccessities in the neighbourhoods and the main roads of the basic network. They will stress in school protection in the entrance - exit hours of pupil and the circumstances that entail risk for people. Police will avoid double parking in the streets and regulate traffic where density is higher. The closest zones to school centers more crowded are Pavaneras, Manuel de Góngora, Paseo de los Basilios, Palacio de Congresos, Caleta, Acera de Darro and Gran Vía.

The area of Mobility has carried out signalling tasks and traffic lights network in school areas. This tasks of signalling, made in 120 surroundings, consisting in revisions of vertical road signs reporting the existence of school and speed limitations;light signs in pedestrian crossings;replacement of signals where exist a high concentration of traffic accidents or damaged by vandalism;repainting and cleaning.

The improves made in the network of traffic lights have been cleaning and painting of the elements;elimination of advertisements;checking the status and colour of plastics, posts and leds, replacing them when appropiate;reshaping the school informative pannels and adaptation and sychronization between traffic ligts to accomplish them to the new neccessities of traffic. The regulation of traffic lights is managed on the go, when getting in or out schools, from the traffic control center in cooperation with Local Police.
