Traffic cuts in the Official Route

From 20 to 25 March 2016, about 17:00 hours all accesses and itineraries through Gran Vía de Colón, Reyes Católicos, Acera del Darro, Recogidas and surroundings of Mariana Pineda Square and adjacent streets, will be closed to traffic due to religious parades, in the Official Route, that goes through Mariana Pineda Square- Ganivet - Puerta Real de España – Recogidas - Alhóndiga - Marqués de Gerona - Plaza de las Pasiegas - Holy Cathedral.

On 26 March, general traffic cut will be at 18:00 hours, while on 27 March, traffic cut will be at 10:30 hours.

Public transport

As a general rule traffic will be cut one hour before in the Axis of Gran Vía - Reyes Católicos - Puerta Real de España. This will cause desvío de transporte público.

When the itineraries of the parades allow it, Urban Buses will go always through Severo Ochoa, Albert Einstein Square, Martinez de la Rosa, Camino de Ronda, when they go towards the South of the City, while when going towards North buses will go through Camino de Ronda, Severo Ochoa.

Taxi service, will have three head points: Acera del Darro, next to El Corte Inglés, towards Carrera de la Virgen or Puente de Castañeda; Recogidas Street, between Solarillo de Gracia and Puentezuelas, towards Camino de Ronda; and Gran Vía de Colón, next to old Bank Of Spain building.

Regulation of Traffic

Special attention is given to traffic aroud the perimeter of: Cruz de Lagos, Palacio de Congresos, Poeta Manuel de Góngora and Puente Verde, being usual to divert traffic to the Center when necessary.

  • PLAZA DE LAS PASIEGAS / COLEGIO CATALINO.

Wax on the pavement

During the Holy Week special attention is given to wax on the pavement, specially motorbikes, mopeds and bicycles.

Streets San Matías and Varela will have restrictions for two wheeled vehicles until the wax is removed after Holy Week

Wax removal

Wax removal will start on Sunday, 27 March 2016, after the last religious parade, with priority given to main roads of the City, Puerta Real de España and Gran Vía de Colón areas.
