With this measure, government of the city hears one of the main complaints of users of LAC line, related to the high price of surcharge.

The Local Government Board has approved this morning a modification for the ordinance of public transport users, consisting on the reduction of the amount of sanctions for LAC users that travel without cancelling their ticket, a surcharge of 40 euros, that from now on will be 20 euros.

As the Citizen´s Protection, Mobility, Undertaking, Tourism and Commerce, Raquel Ruz, this measure, that will come in force once is been taken to the local commision of mobility and approved by the plenary session of the Municipal Corporation.

In words of the Council, with this measure, the city governmente answer to one of the main complaints of the users of this line, related to the high price of the surcharge that, sometimes, penalize people that by mistake, with no intention of cheating, get on the vehicle not cancelling properly their ticket and were forced to pay 40 euros within four days from day the infraction has been made..

This measure also establishes incremental sanctions for those users that, repeatedly, does not valid their ticket.

In the current ordinance, the person that, by mistake, does not valid its ticket, must pay an amount of 40 euros within four days and, in case not being able to do it, it has a recharge of 270 euros, a considerable and unjustified amount of money

As Ruz said, this modification proposed by the Local Goverment Body, reduces by half, from 40 to 20 euros the recharge for not paying their ticket and, if you do not pay 20 euros within four days, recharge will be 90 euros, and a sanction of 180 euros for users that repeatedly do not validate their ticket, this is, that get on the bus without validating their ticket for a second time, and 180 euros recharge the third time user commits this infraction.

For the Council, it is important and fare to distinguish between users that by mistake and with no intention of cheating, do not validate their ticket once; from those who, repeatedly, avoid payment. The amount of money to pay will be progressive and not so high for those who, for the first time and unintentional mistake,do not validate their ticket.
