1. Rearrangement of traffic in Plaza de San Isidro

Implementation of two-way traffic in Avda. de Madrid (between Don Emilio Durán Durán St and Avda. Constitución) and implementation of pedestrian crossing with traffic lights in Avenida de Madrid junction with plaza de San Isidro.

Implementation of two-way traffic in Avda. de Madrid (between Don Emilio Durán Durán St and Avda. Constitución)

It is due to implementate two-way traffic in Avda. de Marid between Don Emilio Durán Durán St and Avda. de la Constitución to:

- Create an alternative route for traffic going to roundabout that at present goes through "Tinajilla St - Nueva del Santísimo St - Almona de San Juan de Dios St - Santa Bárbara St" .

- Create a direct exit to the motorway through Dr. Severo Ochoa St from Gran Vía de Colón because of the lack of left turning, only available to change direction in Avda. Dr. Olóriz through Isaac Albéniz St, using Don Emilio Durán Durán St to arrive faster.

- Give alternatives to exit traffic from Albayzín and Campus de Cartuja through Cardenal Parrado St towards Dr. Severo Ochoa St, easing exit of traffic coming from Avda. Dr. Olóriz that, due to Light Rail crossroad with Avda. de Constitución, does not have enough capacity in peak hours.

Since implementation of two-way traffic in Avda. de Madrid upwards traffic must be aimed to the right lane matching with public transport lane, so will be proposed the following modifications:

- Change to parking places the reserved area of Hotel at the beginning of Avda. de Madrid creating two wider lanes needed to implementate two-way traffic in this first section.

- Rearrange current traffic in Plaza de San Isidro to reduce to the maximum traffic jams and so ease circulation of Public Transport.

Changes in Pza. San Isidro:

- Considering restrictions to traffic to be implemented after road works in Avda. Divina Pastora, as first measure has been proposed to restrict traffic in Plaza de San Isidro in the extension of Cristo de la Yedra St (that joins the beginning of Ancha de Capuchinos St and Avda. de Madrid) just for residents in San Ildefonso District, as alternative to Avda. Divina Pastora. This means to change taxi stop in Plaza San Isidro to the exit of Dr. Guirao Gea St and the implementation of a new pedestrian crossing with traffic lights at the exit of the underpass to improve pedestrian mobility and rearrange entrance of vehicles in Plaza de San Isidro that will reduce traffic jams up towards Avda. de Murcia.

Solution created:

1st To ease change of lanes and favour public transport in Plaza de San Isidro it has been proposed to implementate the following changes:

- In front of bus stop in Pza. San Isidro will be created a Bus-lane wide enough to ease big dimension buses circulation and will be created a thrid traffic lane including the current excluded area in front of Medicine Faculty.

- It will be favoured straight incorporation to right lane in Pza. San Isidro to those vehicles arriving from the right lane in Avda. de Madrid restricting traffic to only one lane at the exit of underpass where, will be reserved right lane for public transport.

2nd To reduce to the maximum traffic jams and Public Transport will be favoured:

- restriction of traffic in the lane of Plaza de San Isidro in the extension of Cristo de la Yedra St (that joins the beginning of Ancha de Capuchinos St with Avda. de Madrid) for residents of San Ildefonso district only, in the area between Cardenal Parrado - Real de Cartuja - Ancha de Capuchinos - Av de. Hospicio.

2. Nigth traffic cut in avenida de Madrid

On Sunday August 24 2025, at 22:00 hours, will be implemented a pedestrian crossing and rearrangement of lanes planned in Av. Madrid junction with Plaza San Isidro.

Bus lines 7, 8 and N9 will be diverted through Cuesta del Hospicio, bus stop in Triunfo will be cancelled.
Bus line 33 will be diverted through Ribera del Beiro.

3. 41 Half Marathon City of Granada

On Saturday April 26 2025 takes place the celebration of Half Marathon in Granada, starting at 19:30 hours and ends aproximately two hours and a half after.

Public transport

The development of Half Marathon affects public transport. Expected diversions will be according to Local Police guidelines.
- Bus lines 4, 8, 11 and S2 will be diverted throuhg avenida de América once Poeta Manuel de Góngora is closed to traffic.
- Will be diverted through Camino de Ronda once Reyes Católicos St is closed to traffic, affecting bus lines 4, 8, 11, 21 and 33.
- When the marathon goes through Albaicín, will affect bus lines C31, C32 and C34, and also C30, C32 and C35 when going through Realejo.

4. Holy Week 2025

From 13 to 20 April 2025 takes place the celebration of Holy Week in Granada.

SCHEDULE OF REGULAR TRAFFIC CUTS:

From Sunday 13 until Saturday 19 April, at 16:00 hours and until the end of the day (according to guidelines of Local Police).

On Sunday 20 April at 10:00 hours and until 15:00 hours (there can be carried out punctual traffic cuts subsequently to remove wax from the streets, after Local Police guidelines).

On the following map we can see the area that usually is closed to traffic due to the itineraries of parades, diversions of public transport will be through Camino de Ronda and Carrera Oficial.

Traffic cuts in Recorrido Oficial

About 16:00 hours all accesses and itineraries going through Gran Vía de Colón, Reyes Católicos, Acera del Darro, Recogidas and area of Plaza de Mariana Pineda and surrounding streets, will be closed to traffic due to parades, through Carrera Oficial, this is:
Carrera de la Virgen (central way), plaza del Campillo, plaza Mariana Pineda, Ángel Ganivet, Puerta Real de España, Mesones, Marqués de Gerona, plaza de las Pasiegas, S.I. Cathedral.

Special attention is given to traffic in the perimeter of: Cruz de Lagos, Palacio de Congresos, Poeta Manuel de Góngora and Puente Verde, to create diversions of traffic if necessary.

This plan expects hot spots of traffic in big streets of the city, as Avenida de Juan Pablo II, roundabouts in Rotary, Circunvalación, Arabial - Méndez Núñez or the surroundings of Acera del Darro, Humilladero and Villarejo, among others.

Wax on the streets

Due to parades, during all week there Will be wax on the streets, a very dangerous issue mostly for two wheeled vehicles. Usually, traffic restrictions in San Matías and Varela streets will be carried out for motorbikes and mopeds during Holy Week.

At the end of Holy Week, there will be traffic cuts in Ángel Ganivet, Acera del Darro, etc. to remove wax from the streets. This action is usually carried out on the following Monday to Holy Week.

5. Partial traffic cut in avenida de la Constitución

Partial traffic cut in avenida de la Constitución, at number 10, on 24, 25, 26 or 27 March from 22:00 to 7:00 hours.

6. Change of fares for Urban Public Transport in Granada

From January 30 will be reactivated bonifications of 50% in card pass and multipass cards.

Bonification of 50% is extended in collective public transport in Granada from January 23 2025 vigency of bonifications expected in artices 64 to 70 of Real Decreto-ley 8/2023, from December 27, previously extended to January 22 2025, in accordance to Real Decreto-ley 1/2025, of January 28.

8. Change of fares of Urban Public Transport in Granada

From October 1st 2024 come into force new fares approved on Resoluction 23 September 2024 of Dirección General de Tributos, Financiación, Relaciones Financieras con las Corporaciones Locales y Juego.

NEW FARES OF URBAN PUBLIC COLLECTIVE TRANSPORT IN GRANADA AND APPLICATION OF 50% DISCOUNT.

Aproved the revision file to revew fares of public transport in our city, by resolution of the Dirección General de Tributos y Relaciones Financieras with Local Entities on September 23 2024, will be implementated from October 1st.

Also, current bonus of 50% mantains in travel cards (Credibús 5€, 10€, 20€, monthly card and Youth card, Universitary and RMP) until the end of deadline stablished by Government (31 December 2024).

The rise of prices approved affect less usual users of urban buses with an average rise of 3-4 cents of euro, versus rising of tickets of sporadic use.

With this measure tries to give answer to increases in prices these last years, and also update them, due to last price rising on 2017.
