Full refurbishment in Avenida de Cervantes

On Monday 3 November 2025 begins refurbishment works in avenida de Cervantes.

 

The City Council of Granada starts works on Monday 3 November 2025 for full refurbishment in Avenida de Cervantes, an event included in the I Work Municipal Plan 2024-2027 with an investment of 3,4 millon euro and estimated execution period is 11 months. Project will change one of main streets in the city into a great green and accesible way, created for displacements on foot, relax and neighbour coexistence.


Traffic cut in avenida de Cervantes


Section I: between Puente Verde and Alcalá de Henares

Due date for total traffic cut in Avda. De Cervantes, between Puente Verde and Alcalá de Henares St will be from 6/11/25 to 27/03/26 (Viernes de Dolores).

To ease mobility of residents, the access to garages and procurement of goods for shops will be:

- Create an access to garages in Avda. de Cervantes from Alcalá de Henares St, and exit through Alonso Quijano St.


Section II: between Alcalá de Henares and Sancho Panza streets

Due date for total traffic cut in Avda. De Cervantes, betweem Alcalá de Henares and Sancho Panza St will be from 6/11/25 to 27/03/26 (Viernes de Dolores).

To ease mobility of residents, the access to garages and procurement of goods for shops and public service will be:
- create an access to garages in Avda. de Cervantes from Alcalá de Henares St, and exit to roundabout through Sancho Panza St.
- Create an exit from Guarnón St to Avda. De Cervantes upwards until roundabout in Sancho Panza St to give access for service vehicles to Palacio de la Quinta, taxis and bus line S0 of public transport.


Traffic cut in avenida de Cervantes

During Christmas Season (from 24/12/25 to 06/01/26) traffic streets will be open to traffic, unless due to the situation of works, it will not be possible to guarantee Road Safety.

After the end of Holy Week 2026, from 6/04/26 (Lunes de Pascua) and until the end of works, it will be allowed to deliver work goods in off peak hours (between 10:00 and 14:00 and between 16:00 and 20:00 hours) occupying one lane of traffic just as necessary to load and unload goods, regulated by operators (lane must be wide enough for big dimension vehicles).


PUBLIC TRANSPORT

To give urban collective public transport to users affected by refurbishment works of infrastructures and water resilence of the cyle of water in Avda. de Cervantes, where traffic will be closed, will be carried out the following traffic diversions in urban public transport from 11 November.

Line 9:

Outbound way, towards Rebites: itinerary through Avda. Cervantes will be eliminated and bus stop 178 will be diverted through Profesor Albareda St bus stop 693, Avda. Pablo Picasso bus stop 1467, Bruselas St, Primavera St bus stop 1245 and Sancho Panza St bus stops 1248 and 1217

Return way, towards Chana: itinerary through Avda. Cervantes bus stop 565 will be eliminated, Puente verde bus stop 179, Paseo de la Bomba bus stop 574, Paseo del Salón bus stop 587 and Plaza del Humilladero bus stop 1391. Will be diverted through: Sancho Panza St bus stops 542 and 543, Primavera St bus stops 512 and 513, Andrés Segovia St bus stop 145 and 1475 and Poeta Manuel de Góngora St bus stop 451.

Bus line 11:

Itinerary through Avda. Cervantes bus stop 565 will be eliminated, Profesor Albareda St bus stop 693 and Avda. Pablo Picasso bus stop 1467. Will be diverted through: Sancho Panza St bus stops 542 and 543, Primavera St bus stops 512 and 513 and Andrés Segovia St bus stops 145 and 1475

Bus line S0:

Itinerary towards Bola de Oro will be eliminated through Avda. Cervantes bus stop 565 and Puente verde St bus stop 179. Will be diverted through: Sancho Panza St bus stop 542 and 543, Primavera St bus stops 512 and 513, Andrés Segovia St bus stops 145 and 1475, Poeta Manuel de Góngora St bus stop 451 and Paseo de los Basilios bus stops 575, 33 and 32.

Bus line 111:

Will be eliminated through Sancho Panza St, Avda. Cervantes and Puente Verde St. Will be diverted through: Camino Bajo de Huétor, Callejón del Pretorio and Paseo de los Basilios, with stops in demand because it is a night lane.

Bus line 121:

Itinerary through Avda. Cervantes and Sancho Panza St will be eliminated. Will be diverted through: Profesor Albareda St and Camino bajo de Huétor, with stops in demand because it is a night lane.

CONSORTIUM OF TRANSPORT IN THE AREA OF GRANADA

Diversion of bus lines 181 and 184. Check more info at ctagr.es.

Bus line 181 (Granada - Huétor Vega - Barrio Monachil - Bellavista), towards Granada, will go through roundabout in Sancho Panza, Primavera St, Fontiveros, Andrés Segovia and Poeta Manuel de Góngora. From Granada, itinerary will be diverted through Callejón del Pretorio, Camino Bajo de Huétor, Sancho Panza, and back to usual itinerary.

Bus line 184 (Granada - Huétor Vega - Mundo Nuevo / Los Rebites) will take the same diversion of bus line 181 while traffic cut in done, both directions of entrance and exit of Granada.

During this period, will be supressed bus stops in Avda. de Cervantes and Profesor de Albareda.
